Volunteer with Macmillan @ Glasgow Libraries providing support to anyone affected by cancer in the South of Glasgow
Do you want to give your time to support people affected by cancer?
We are looking for caring individuals who have a few hours a week to volunteer supporting people affected by cancer. Glasgow Libraries are working with Macmillan Cancer Support to provide a network of Macmillan Cancer Information & Support Services in local communities.
Our volunteers provide a listening ear emotional support information and signposting to other local services. We are there for anyone affected by cancer - this means the individual with the diagnosis and their family, friends, carers and those who have been bereaved by cancer. No personal experience of cancer is necessary for the role. We are looking for volunteers who have an open friendly manner, are non-judgemental with good communication & listening skills. Most important is a willingness to learn and a desire to support others.
We will train and support you every step of the way in your role! We have drop in services across Glasgow in local libraries and we are currently looking for volunteers in:
Pollok on Monday afternoons
Langside on Tuesday afternoons
Castlemilk on Thursdays
Gorbals on Friday afternoons
We pay travel expenses up to a maximum of £4.50 per shift.
Minimum Age: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

We provide accredited 2.5 day core training followed by ongoing learning and development opportunities. Our ongoing training sessions provide the opportunity to meet other volunteers and make friends too!
